This study was performed to check up the nurses attitude and knowledge for AIDS patients.
The 148 nurses who attended the education of 'Care for the AIDS patients' held by the Medical Center, CAU were the objects. It was performed from September 15, 1994 which was before the education to December 31, 1994 that was after the education.
It was
examined about attitude toward the AIDS patients and knowledge of AIDS by using the structured questionaries, managed by computer with SAS and analyzed.

have more responsibility for his disease.(t=.-4.51 P=0.0000), * The AIDS patient doesn't deserve consideration about disease.(t=-4.21, p=0.0000), * The AIDS patient is a threatening person to the sound man.(t=-6.60, p=0.00004), * The death of the
AIDS
patient is a natural result as an compensation for sin.(t=-2.81), p=0.005), * The AIDS patient must be isolated from the others.(t=-7.30, p=0.0000), * The AIDS patient has to quit his job.(t=-7.00, p=0.0000) were shown more negative correlation
after
the education.
On the other hand, eight questionaries that is * AIDS gives more damage to the patient physically. (t=2.63, p=0.009) * You can talk to the AIDS patient when he goes to hospital.(t=3.73, p=0.0002) * You can attend the place where and AIDS patient
is.
(t=3.60, t=0.0004) * You can go to dinner which is prepared by an AIDS patient.(t=6.06, p=0.0000) * You can work at the same office with an AIDS patient.(t=6.10, p=0.0000) * You can be a faithful to your friend who proves to be an AIDS

2. The questionaries of the nurses's knowledge of AIDS were twenty, and it was marked examination papers onthe basis of 20 points. The nurses who obtained right answer were 'Before the Education(M=11.5)' 'After the Education(M = 13.1)'. and so
there
was an effect of education. There were six questionaries which were 70% at the right answer rate, five under 50% about the knowledge before the education. And also there were eleven questionaries that were 70% at the rate of right answer, five
under 50%
about the knowledge after the education. But in the six questionaries that is * AIDS is spread only by sex with a homosexual. * HIV of an AIDS pathogen is separated from all humors such as sperm, sputum, peripheral blood. Tear etc. * The man who
has
positive reaction to AIDS antibody will become an AIDS patient. * The incubational period of AIDS is known as from 6 months to 5 years. * You may be infected through injection of blood material. * Not only AIDS patients but also positive to HIV
antibody
have to be examined not to spread AIDS. The right answer rate lowered after the education and so they will be amphasized at the next education program.
This results indicate that the practical and principle education for correction of nurse's negative attitude toward AIDS patients and wrong knowledge will needed.
